My Review:

Pros:
Cons:
It's been ten years since the first iPhone came out in 2007 and now Apple has released the iPhone X. The "X" stands for ten, representing the ten years of iPhones. Apple wanted this phone to be their flagship phone for 2017 although they released the iPhone 8 which is more like an iPhone 7S. Apple has taken a very big step into the game releasing this type of phone. Not a usual iPhone, but it's a good unusual. |

A New Design
Apple has taken a different style in designing the iPhone X. Their glossy glass finish at the back of the phone which is very different form the usual matte finished iPhones. The two colours available for the iPhones is Space Gray and Silver. The Space Gray is my favourite as the colour blends in with the display. The iPhones is made out of stainless steel and "One of the most strongest types of glass ever put of a smartphone" So Apple says.
An Unusual Display
The iPhone X has a stunning display that has a 2436 x 1125 pixel resolution which is 458 pixels per inch. The screen has an OLED screen and is actually made by Samsung. The screen is razor sharp with colours being very vibrant and the blacks are pitch dark. With Apple's True Tone technology makes it even easier to see the screen in direct sunlight. Apple has made sure that they made a "bezel-less" smartphone this year especially with the all screen design trend that all the companies are adding to their phones. Though Apple has taken a slightly different approach to this. They have made use of as much screen as possible with the two top corners between the big notch being shortcuts to the Control Center and the Notifications Panel. And as i said in the middle is a massive notch which accommodates the front facing camera and the Face ID system (I'll cover these topics later). Most of the time apps don't really use the notch and there is just a bog black strip on the top and bottom of the screen making the iPhone X looking a lot like the iPhone 8.
A Very Speedy Phone
Apple developed the A11 Bionic Chip which is one of the fastest chips ever put in a smartphone. The iPhone X is very fast with animations being smooth and apps loading very quickly but Apple needs to watch out becuase the Andriod competetion is upping their game and becoming a good competetor with Apple. As you might know there is no home button on the iPhone X which got me thinking "What will activate Siri?" "How will I open my recent apps?" and the list goes on. So here's all the gestures used to get these features:
As you can see there are a lot of gestures to remember but after some time you will eventaully get used to it. And another downer is the ports, the iPhone X still doesn't have a headphone jack and Apple id still using thier thunderbolt port and not switching to USB Type-C.
- A SWIPE UP takes you to the HOME SCREEN
- A SWIPE UP, HOLD AND SCROLL RIGHT takes you to RECENT APPS
- A DOUBLE TAP of the power button activates APPLE PAY
- HOLDING DOWN the power button for 2 seconds takes you to SIRI
- HOLDING DOWN the volume up button and power button takes a SCREEN SHOT
- HOLDING DOWN the volume down and power button POWERS DOWN THE PHONE

Battery And Water Resistance
Apple has finally come to the party with wireless charging and that's thanks to the glass backed design of iPhone X which makes the phone compatible with wireless charging but the wireless charging pad will hit you another $100 on top of that $1000 phone. The battery on the iPhone X is a 2716 mAh which is not the best but it will last you a day with medium usage of the phone. Now here is where I got really disappointed with the iPhone X as when you leave it on standby over night you lose 45% of your battery life just for the phone idling for 8 hours. Well at least the iPhone X supports fast charging so it won't take long to juice it up in the morning (The fast charger is also not included in the box so that will cost you another $10 for the lightning to USB Type-C cable and another $100 for the fast charging power brick)
A Complicated Camera
The iPhone X has an outstanding camera it has a 12 megapixel dual lens system. The wide angle lens has an aperture of f/1.8 while the telephoto lens have an aperture of f/2.4. This is used in low light conditions and for using portrait mode which has been improved a lot. What portrait mode does is that it blurrs out the background to make the object you focused on stand out from the background by making the background look soft and object look sharp and clear. And for the selfie camera there is a 7 megapixel camera which also supports portrait mode but its not as good as the rear camera's portrait mode as on the front camera it does mess up a selfie by blurring out hair. But other than that their is no other issues I have with the cameras. Now here is the complicated part part about the front camera, it's also used for Face ID. So mow you unlock your phone with your face instead of using the fingerprint sensor. The system of Face ID has a dot projector, a flood illuminator, a sensor to reconise you and the camera. Another cool feature that Apple took advantage of is Animojis which uses Face ID system to change you into a talking emoji. So imagine you are messaging your friend and you want to tell them something and pit an emoji after the message, with the iPhone X you can record yourself saying the message and convert yourself into the emojis you wanted to put, like a poop emoji.
