Welcome to the GadgetQuest Smartphone Awards for 2017. Here we are going to be showcasing the best phones that have come out in 2017. This is how things are going to work; I'm going to have different categories and in each category there is going to be nominees and a winner. As you could see below there are the top 5 smartphones, picking these placements were really hard but I think each phone deserves the place it's in and all phone were really good this year. If you have any friends or family looking for a new smartphone you should probably send them this website. Enjoy this article :-)
Top 5 Smartphones For 2017
1. Samsung Galaxy Note 8
Wow; The Note 8 is such an amazing phone I think it is the best phone you could get right now. The Note 8 is a very good all-rounder and an excellent alternative for iPhone users.

3. Apple iPhone X
After such a long time Apple has released an iPhone that had extreme changes done to it. Apple did really well this year and I would definitely say this phone is top notch. Get it, "notch" :-)

5. Samsung Galaxy S8 | S8+
The S8's bigger brother got 1st place but that doesn't mean that the S8 is bad it's actually flippin good with it's attractive design and clear screen. The S8 and S8 Plus is among the best of mid to high range phones.

Camera
Nominees: Apple iPhone X; Google Pixel 2; Samsung Note 8
Winner: Google Pixel 2
The cameras that came out this year were outstanding but the Google Pixel 2 had the best camera in 2017. iPhone had really good color and slow motion videos but the Google Pixel 2 just had a really good camera for a single lens and the Note 8 had a really good camera for the first time having a dual camera.

Design
Nominees: iPhone X; Essential Phone; Samsung S8
Winner: Samsung S8
The Samsung S8 was a really good-looking phone, it was sleek thin and really clean. The iPhone X lost out because of the big notch at the top and just didn't look as good as the S8. The Essential Phone looked really nice but it looked a bit too bulky and cheap.

Performance
Nominees: Apple iPhone X; OnePlus 5T; Samsung Note 8
Winner: Apple iPhone X
The iPhone X had the new A11 bionic chip which was really powerful and is extremely fast. I was a bit skeptical to give it to the iPhone X because of its 3 gigabytes of RAM. The Note I think was a really close second and the OnePlus 5T had excellent multi-tasking with its 8 gigabytes of RAM.

Display
Nominees: Apple iPhone X; Google Pixel 2XL; Samsung Note 8; Samsung S8
Winner: Samsung Note 8
The Samsung Note 8 definitely has the best screen in the market. The Note 8 was really bright and crystal clear. The iPhone X also had a really nice screen but not only was the iPhone’s screen not as good as the Note but because it the panel was made by Samsung I couldn’t give it to the iPhone. The Google Pixel 2 XL had an amazing improvement from previous Pixel phones the screen is much more clear and a lot brighter but its just not the best screen.

Battery
Nominees: Samsung S8+; Razor Phone
Winner: Razor Phone
The Razor Phone was optimised for gaming and gaming requires a lot of power so you’ll find a 4000mAh battery inside the razor phone which is absoulutely insane. The Samsung S8+ also had a massive battery of 3600 mAh which lasted the whole day and a bit more. But the Razor Phone lasted longer.

Security
Nominees: Apple iPhone X; OnePlus 5T
Winner: OnePlus 5T
The OnePlus 5T has it all in terms of security facial recognition; fingerprint scanning, the whole package. The iPhone X’s facial recognition worked really well but it wasn’t as fast as the OnePlus 5T and the the iPhone X does have any other form of security other than a pin.

Value for money
Nominees: Essential Phone; OnePlus 5T
Winner: OnePlus 5T
The OnePlus 5T is not really exactly cheap bit I believe for what you getting for $500 is quite a lot considering that it beats some phones that are top of the range and really expensive. The Essential Phone I think was just asking for too much. But I guess now they dropped the price which doesn’t make it all that bad

Speakers
Nominees: Apple iPhone X; Razor Phone
Winner: Razor Phone
As I said the Razor Phone is built for gaming and obviously having great speakers will make gaming better. The iPhone X also had amzing spakers compared to previous iPhones

Features and creativity
Nominees: Apple iPhone X; Google Pixel 2XL; Samsung Note 8
Winner: Samsung Note 8
The Samsung Note 8 had definelty the most features and creativity put into a smartphone this year; the S-Pen, Samsung Dex, Samsung VR and the design(and much more) has all contributed for the Note 8 to get this award. The iPhone X had really major changes done to it but other than Face ID and AR there’s not much new to the iPhone. The Google Pixel 2XL had a lot of changes done a lot of thought, effort and creativity was put into the Pixel making it one of my favourite phones of 2017.
